Pet Hospice & Euthanasia in Jacksonville & Orange Park
Pet hospice means maximizing end-of-life care for your cat, dog or exotic animal until natural death occurs or euthanasia becomes the most humane option. Whether your pet is suffering from old age, was injured or became seriously ill, our caring veterinarians and compassionate staff can help you through this painful experience. Peace and comfort during his or her final days is also very important to us. That's why we offer hospice care services for dogs and cats, where our veterinarian works with you to ensure the most humane path for comfort and dignity.
Pet Hospice Care from PrimeVET
When the end is near, but it's not time to say goodbye just yet, our veterinary team will work closely with you to ensure that your dog or cat is comfortable. A quality life is always important, but especially at the end when health conditions may make them uncomfortable. We can help with decisions about pain management and medical therapy, and our team will be on standby to help you through the hardest parts. As your best friend nears the end of their journey, we will remain committed to providing the best hospice care for as long as needed.
Key Quality of Life Factors
When time to say goodbye gets near, it is normal to experience feelings of guilt, grief and doubt. Our veterinarians will carefully discuss all aspects of the pet's condition as well as help you explore key factors, such as:
- Pain Medication Stops Working
- Weight Loss with No Appetite
- Collapses after Short Distances
- Difficulty Breathing
- Chronic Deep Coughing
- No Longer Stands Unassisted
Our staff has dedicated their lives to caring for all animals with the highest quality of veterinary care. We are pet parents too and understand that saying good-bye is the most difficult situation you will ever encounter as a pet owner.
End of Life Decisions
End of life decisions* can be difficult to make and we do our best to ensure that you have all of the support, compassion, and information available to make the best decision. Euthanasia is painless, quick and humane. When it is time to say goodbye, PrimeVet Animal Hospital offers you the opportunity to do so in a loving, peaceful environment, with dignity for your best friend. We have a separate area for this private time in a cozy, homey room with soft music and a separate entrance for the grieving family members.
*NOTE: If your pet is not a patient of record, we do require a consultation prior to euthanasia. Our team believes strongly in confirming the medical necessity that goes along with end of life decisions.
Our compassionate veterinary team is available to discuss all of your questions and concerns. When it comes to memorializing your pet, we can offer private or communal cremations as well as commemorative objects such as paw prints. We are here to help through all areas of your pet's life, right to the end. If you have questions, please don't hesitate to contact us 904-644-7876 for assistance.
